I'll start off by apologizing if this thread is in the wrong forum or if this topic has been covered. A Google search led me to this site, but I couldn't find what I needed. Also, after some browsing, I noticed that I am probably the most naive person on these forums when it comes to computers. That said:

I have the MDS Search Booster on my computer. HOW DO I GET RID OF IT? I have a-squared, spydoctor, ad aware and bought xsoftspy. None of these have removed the MDS Search Booster. When I go to uninstall it, it just opens up my Windows Media Player. So two things:

1 If someone could tell me what to do in layman's terms I would be most grateful. Is there something else I can download? OR Will simply using my PC's recovery disks do the trick. I'd prefer the former, but am willing to do the latter.

2 Is there a free Firewall I can download that someone could recommend?

Sorry again if this is in the wrong forum or this topic has been covered. I just can't get rid of the damn thing. Thanks in advance. :)

Download the Trial Version of Your Uninstaller!

Note: Choose "Pro Mode" once the program and loaded, locate the program you want to uninstall and uninstall, after uninstall is complete Your Uninstaller will scan for leftover files and registry entries. After this is complete reboot and see if program is still causing problems.

    ZoneAlarm Free Version

Thanks so much for the quick reply!!! Your Uninstaller worked, but I also lost the Windows Media Player. So I just downloaded it again from Microsoft, and my entire library was restored with download just as it was before I unistalled. No harm done.

1 Another question though: Would using the recovery disks have worked as well instead of the uninstaller? Just curious for future consideration as Unistaller is only a trial offer.

2 Another question: I got the Firewall you mentioned, but it's only free for trial. Any firewalls out there that are just plain free?

Thanks again man, I really appreciate your help! :)

No, A Recovery Disk is for recovery of a partition from corrupted or erased Windows Installation. Its not for uninstalling anything however, It would fix the problem if you recovered the partition and reinstalled Windows but you would lose your data.

This version of ZoneAlarm is free, its just gives you the option to try ZoneAlarm Professional which does cost.

You should see this article on How to Protect yourself from malware!

As for the Recovery Disk option, I think it let's you start from scrath though right? The times I've done it, it's basically started my computer as if it were the day I bought it. Is that what you mean by "however, It would fix the problem if you recovered the partition and reinstalled Windows but you would lose your data."? I do have all my files (music, etc.) backed up onto disk.

    I'll read through that. Thanks!

That is correct! It will format the partition which basically wipes everything clean!
