Help!!! Please

Ok guys heres the situaton. My COmputer was booting and running VERY VERY slow. So i figured that i should reformat the hard drive and Reinstall windows, seeing as i might have had some type of virus that was causing it all. I backed everything up...even though it was slow as hell to do. and reformatted the HD. but to my dismay even the reinstall was extremely slow. Im talking like overnight and it still wasnt done when i woke up. I know know that the slugish nature of my machine probabally want from the virus, but is there a problem with my hard drive? Or could it be something else. Im willing to spend the $ for a new HD if thats the issue. I have a MEGA Shuttle PC http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/msi-mega-pc/
all the specs are there. WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!

if you can, run a chkdsk (check disk like scan disk in win98) from windows (if it installed) and see if it finds errors. If it locates bad blocks, then it's time for a new drive.

You might also try re-setting the BIOS to its defaults.

It would be a good idea to note any non-default settings first, just in case they're needed to let a particular subsystem run properly. With some systems, you can send the BIOS setup screens to a printer attached to the parallel port with the PRNT SCRN key.

 

And 12 of those were probably from someone who was curious as to why you're calling for help but couldn't offer any because s/he hadn't a clue once s/he found out what was wanted.

And there are those who won't look at a post unless the title gives some clue as to what kind of help is needed. They don't have time for fishing expeditions.

A more descriptive title might be more likely to attract those who can answer the question.
