I am new to major geeks but am finding it a wealth of information which I greatly appreciate. I am trying to get rid of 'spyware doctor' which is running a bogus system alert pop up (see image)in my system tray. I went through the malware removal procedure and the runkey and counterspy .txt files are attached. In msconfig under startup I have unchecked 'spyware doctor' in both normal and safe mode but it does not hold and the damn thing starts with every reboot. Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

That is not a popup from Spyware Doctor which is a legit application. It is a popup do to a rogue antispyware tool you may have installed. You probably got it when you installed codecs like Video ActiveX Access to view video type files of questionable content.

Is you copy of Spyware Doctor a paid version or is it a free trial. If free, just uninstall it now!

You need to attach ALL of the requested logs from the READ & RUN ME sticky. The below are the required logs and you only attached 2 of 6 (skip the two already attached).
    • CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
    • AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
    • Bitdefender - from step 6
    • Panda Scan - from step 6
    • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
    • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
    • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

    Re: spyware doctor logs 2

Okay please go back and install GetRunKey properly. Based on your first log you did not install and run it properly per the instructions on the download page. Then attach a new log from it. Make sure you are not using MSconfig to control startups (see step 0 of the READ ME) before you run GetRunKey. And also you had skipped step 2 of the READ ME.

Also you did not answer my question about Spyware Doctor.

    Re: spyware doctor logs 2

This is really not an issue with safe mode. It is an issue that you are not in Normal Startup mode and are using MSconfig to control startups. You must be in Normal Startup mode. The also make sure step 2 of the READ ME was run properly. And then attach a new log from GetRunKey.

This is the third time I'm asking this, you need to always answer questions or we will never get finished. Is Spyware Doctor a paid or free trial version?
