Help SBLive Setup Needed

Greetings Citizens -

I jsut installed an SBLive PCI. Hardware and driver install went fine. But - I do have a few problems (I think). . . .

1. Which connection from the CD player do I use into the card itself. Of course there is no clear map of each internal card connection in the install guide or the online manual (unless I missed it). I used the prong connecter into one of the CD In. I think I remember there being a digital connection from the CD drive into the card? If so, is that better to use?

2. Which jack do I use for only 2 speakers. The install guide only gives instructions for multiple speaker setups, no 2 speaker setups. The only jack I can get sound from is the front out jack (the second from the joystick port).

3. With CD's I am getting a comparitively low output volume. Even with the SB controls and the Windows control panels turned up in Master Volume, MP3, Cd, etc. It seems I am getting somewhat low volume with MP3's as well, but not as bad. I have yet to try games. I am comparing this to the card I just removed - an old SB PCI card.

4. I assume digital sound is for multiple speaker systems?

1) you don't need the cdrom audio cable; the computer can just play it digitally straight from the drive
2) second one from the midi port
3) what speakers/headphones are you using? most likey, the sblive stopped amping the output as much as older sound cards (now that amp'ed speakers are becoming commonplace)
4) digital out is 48khz PCM (2.1). you can output ac3 or dts from it only if you have a source that supports it (eg dvd movie), otherwise, you're stuck with 2.1.
