Help - software needed to recover files lost during cut and paste and paste to HDD

Arrgh! I lost a load of photos by cutting and pasting them onto a new external hard disk drive from the desktop of my laptop. The extrenal hard drive immediately broke down. Is there any utility out there I can use to recover these lost during cut and paste.

Give Recuva a try. It's free and I have used it to recover files from a formatted memory stick.

Thanks Eldon, That's a neat bit of software.
I am still struggling to find the images though - it seems to find thumbnails of things but not the whole file. Rich

Recuva is one of the programs I have installed on partition D, but I just ran it from partition C. Open settings, click Actions, and make sure the boxes next to 'Deep Scan' and 'Scan for non-deleted files' are checked.
