I thought I found something strange on my Windows XP(with Firefox)on top,so like a twit I deleted loads of stuff and now things are not working.....
I know if I turn the machine off it will not boot up.
Some things are missing...like System restore.
How can I undo all the things I removed before I turn my computer off :cry

It should all be in the recycle bin? If you emptied that, you may be in trouble.

If you have a USB drive, I would suggest backing up whatever is important to you.

What did you delete besides System Restore. That wouldn't prevent Windows from booting.

    Hi shnerdly,
    thanx for your rapid reply.
I went to regedit and started deleting "Yield manager" things, then spotted other dodgy things and deleted all of them too.
In the start menu,I do not even have a recycle bin?
I have not deleted that-thank goodness.
I only have a handful of things in the Start menu and "Tools" is not one of them.

Try Start>Run>type rstrui.exe to see if System Restore will start.

***On the Start menu I think the path to System Restore is Start>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

    No,
it cannot find that file"rstrui.exe" and the other path to tools aint there either?:-o
I was hoping I could repair it before i shut it down.
I guess I will have to go for "Safe mode" then try system restore after restart?:confused

Try the full path to system restore.
    So Start>Run type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

I wonder if you go to this page and click the Fixit option if it would help? (I don't know what the fixit would look for but you might see what it says)

Sorry you had to do a reinstall. Once the registry is edited, trying to recover is generally more complicated than just starting anew.

Take a look at erunt as a means of backing up the full registry before doing any tweaking in the future. I don't do much registry editing but having a backup is always a good idea. :)
