    Hello,
I have followed all the steps in the READ & RUN ME FIRST thread. The only thing I was not able to get to run because the ActiveX toolbar wasn't popping up was the PANDASCAN. I hope the following will be sufficient:

In this thread I will post the BitDefender text file and the Newfiles text form the ShowNew zip and the runkeys.txt from the GetRunKeys zip.

My next thread will have my HJT log.

    Thank you very much

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

You did not say what malware problems you are having!

Paltalk Messenger is an advertising-supported instant messaging client. Did you install it yourself or did it sneak in?
If you did not install it, you should uninstall it.

    Did you install Emodocom Toolbar?

First install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

    Then uninstall the below software:
    Internet Explorer Security Plugin 2006
    Internet Security Add-On
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
    MyWay Search Assistant
    Viewpoint Media Player

Some items in the below procedure may already be gone if the above uninstalls worked. Just ignore any items that no longer appear and continue.
Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixWLK.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).
Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://mysearch.myway.com/jsp/dellsidebar.jsp?p=DE
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {4D25F926-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\deSrcAs.dll
    R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {202a961f-23ae-42b1-9505-ffe3c818d717} - C:\Program Files\PCODEC\isaddon.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4D25F921-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\deSrcAs.dll
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {fe2d25c1-c1db-4b5e-9390-af1cb5302f32} - (no file)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\Program Files\MyWaySA <--- delete the whole folder
    C:\Program Files\PCODEC <--- delete the whole folder
    C:\40819b3535415a809a
    C:\WINDOWS\eSellerateEngine.dll

Delete All files in the below two folders:
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Nasr\Local Settings\Temp

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now we need to Reset Web Settings:
    1. If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2. Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.
Note for IE 7 users: You need to select Internet Options then the Advanced tab and then Reset Internet Explorer Settings!

Now reboot in normal mode and attach new logs from HJT, GetRunKey, and ShowNew.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now.

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

    Hello,
Thank you for your help. My problem is that I had pop-ups and spyware.
I followed all the directions as you stated and I have attached the 3 logs. Let me know what you see and I will give you feedback as to how the computer runs.

You did not answer the questions I asked in my last message and you also did not uninstall the programs I asked you to uninstall. Please answer my questions and uninstall those programs. Then attach a new log from ShowNew.

    Hi,
Sorry about that...I wasn't sure if you still needed the questions answered. I believe those two software apps were installed by the user of the PC but I am not sure. Regarding the uninstalls...I was having a hard time finding the uninstall scripts of those applications and removed whatever I could find. There is nothing in the control panel either. How do you recommend I remove them?

    Thanks,
    Je

I find it unlikely that ALL of those would not show in Add/Remove programs; however, I can only go by what you tell me. They are in the registry though because they show in your ShowNew log.

Try using this Your Uninstaller! 2006 to uninstall all of them. Let me know what it finds and removed.

    How are things working?

    Hi,
Yes those apps were definately not in the add/remove which confused me too as well. I installed the Uninstaller (great app by the way) and uninstalled all I could find. I've attached the new ShowNew text.
The computer seems to be running great without any popups.
    Thanks!

I forgot to answer your question about what the Uninstalled found and removed.

It found the Myway Search Assistant
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update
    Java 2 Runtime Environment

It did not find Viewpoint Media Player (I think I removed this already)
It did not find Internet Explorer Security Plugin 2006
    or Internet Security Add-on

    Thx.

You're log is clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

After that, you should work thru the below link:
