    Hi Everyone
I am sorry if this is in the wrong place, if so i hope some one can place it in the correct thread.
I have been hit by ransomware even though i have Kaspersky Total Security installed and running on my system. I have tried several utils from different providers all to no avail.
Does anyone know a way to unlock my files, without paying the ransome. The ransomware trojan aparantly isnt new, however the encryption method must be as non of the older utils work. Some of the files end with ".rapid" and most end with ".crypt"

    Kind regards
    Trev

Hard to advise as I don't know what the ransomware is or what utilities you have tried.

    Hi TimW
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunatly this system wont allow me to upload an encrypted file or i could send you one. I have tried every utility i have managed to get hold of from Kasperskys "Rakhni Decryptor, Rannoh Decryptor, Shade Decryptor, CoinVault Decryptor, Xorist Decryptor" to Trend Micro Ransomware file decryptor. Unfortunatly nothing works this is why i think the encryptor has been updated.
Any other suggestions would be apreciated.
    Regards
    Trev

I am sorry, but I don't. If this is a new strain of ransomware, there may not be a decryptor out yet for it. I think your only option is to reformat and re-install.

    Hi TimW

Thank you for your help anyway.

I am sure that in a few months or so the utills will be updated to include this latest strain. In the meantime, I have isolated the encrypted files, and placed them on a flash drive for future decryption.

My niggling thoughts though is, how did whomever manage to get through my Windows defender, Kaspersky total security and Spybot search & destroy, of which none are catching the encrypted files. That along with my firewalls. So I have nothing effective in place to stop another attack. It just shows how vulnerable we all are really.

    Kind regards

    Trev

Although it is too late, go to the downloads on MG's and search for ransomware protection.
