Due to a virus my computer would not connect to my cable modem, despite numerous removal procedures I tried. A computer technician from the cable company recommended to restore the system from back-up CD's/DVD. I first did a restore without deleting old files, rebooted, but that did not solve the problem. Then I did the restore that deleted all old files and now Windows XP will not boot! Upon turning on the CPU it gets caught in a loop after giving an error message related to 'isass.exe' saying something like the password was not recognized, can not proceed... It gets caught into this loop and will not boot properly. Any suggestions????

If possible get the 6 boot discs for XP and try to boot it from that. Can you boot in safe mode? Also, if you have the Windows XP disc you can reinstall it before you startup windows XP. If all else fails you may very well have to format your computer.

Can you be more speicifc as to what you did? What programs used, etc.

Also, can you post the exact errors you are receiving?
