If anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how to eliminate my problem please let me know. I also had a lot of trouble with installing the drivers, but even after i screwed aroudn with them it still didnt work.

I've been having issues with this software, too!

What operating system are you on? We need to make sure that this software is compatible with your OS... we spent awhile trying to troubleshoot a very similar problem, and it came down to this....

Wow, we're in luck today, Puppy! I JUST got a message from Hauppauge tech support. Below is their response that is supposed to work on Windows 2000/XP:

    WDM driver version
    http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/wdm/whql_349_24025.exe

    WinTV2000 application version
    http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/wintv2000/wintv2k412_24054.exe

    Hcwclear.exe

    http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/utils/hcwclear.exe

After these files are downloaded, run the hcwclear.exe program. When you get hcwclear.exe window choose the fourth and fifth item. That will be Remove all WinTV files (total remove) and also Search INF files. You should get a Black Window let it run it will go away by itself.

When this is done, double click and install the whql_349_24024.exe and reboot. When the system comes back up, Windows will see new hardware again, this time click next and go through the install. Windows may warn you that the driver is not signed. Continue the installation anyway, 2 times. When it has finished, you can then install the application wintv2k412_24054.exe; you will now have a WinTV2000 icon on your desktop. Double click it and scan for channels.

If when you are done scanning channels, you don't have any audio, open up the Windows Volume Control, by going to Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume Control. Look for Line-In and un-mute it. If you don't see Line-In, click on options and then properties and put a check mark in the Line-In option in the bottom window.
Click on OK, look for Line-In and un-mute it. You should now get sound
