    I have been infected with antispyware-reviews.biz. After reading all the threads on this piece of malware on major geeks, it seems that each infection is unique so removal based on another user's solution won't work. There are several files in the attached log that are clearly related to the infection but I thought I would get annointing from the experts before proceeding. Thought I should say that your tireless efforts to help the less informed are much appreciated and often left uncommunicated. Thank You!

    Hi imcclos,
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

    Please go to the READ & RUN ME FIRST and follow the instructions for running CCleaner. Your computer is infected. Do not use it alot until we can post you a set of instructions.

    Did you go through the instructions in the READ & RUN ME? If so, please attach the missing logs with your next post. Those would be the log for MalwareBytes, for SuperAntiSpyware and for Combofix.

    Your computer is infected. Do not use it alot until we can post you a set of instructions.

    Thanks.

    Hi imcclos,

    1) Go to add/remove programs and uninstall the below:

    Java(TM) 6 Update 2
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3

    2) Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [e8f1acba] rundll32.exe "C:\Windows\system32\onpddatx.dll",b
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [wT6l0ljSJM] C:\ProgramData\lwpodohq\tglkjuho.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Policies\Explorer\Run: [wT6l0ljSJM] C:\ProgramData\lwpodohq\tglkjuho.exe

    After you click fix, just close hijackthis.

    3) Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Folder::
    C:\ProgramData\lwpodohq
    C:\ProgramData\wkdchvrl

    Registry::
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\Run]
    "wT6l0ljSJM"=-
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "wT6l0ljSJM"=-
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "e8f1acba"=-

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below
    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    4) Now run CCleaner at the default setting with the Windows tab as the top one.

    5) Now Reboot your computer.

    6) Install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

    7) Please run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat and attach the fresh MGlogs.zip (located directly under C:\ just above the superman icon) along with the Combofix log.

    Let me know how things are running now?

    Abri,

    I followed your instructions and ran into a bump.

    After creating the CFscript.txt and dragging it onto cf.exe, ComboFix started. About halfway through the process, it came up with a message that said something like, "The program cannot execute the specified application" and the computer rebooted. After coming back up, I went looking for the folders you specified in CFscript.txt. They were still in the file system so I deleted them manually. I opened the registry and noted that all the registry entries specified in CFscript.txt had been removed. I then finished the instructions and rebooted as you requested. Going back through the file structure and the registry, none of the items in CFscript.txt had returned so I ran GetLogs.bat. Looking through the HJT log, nothing shows up that looks suspicious (to me, that is) so all is well. Most encouraging is that I have had no pop-ups after 4 or 5 reboots. I am attaching the MGLogs.zip as requested. Just wanted to say again how much I appreciate your efforts.

    Hi imcclos,

    Sounds like you did the right thing! Everything looks good. Please go back to step 6 of my last post and download and install the most recent Java. Other than that, if your computer is running smoothly, you can continue on with the final cleanup instructions in the box:
