    Actually, it doesn't.
Why is your audio driver missing?
Is it missing? Or is it corrupted?
When did this start? After an update? After a malware cleaning? Or after a new install of your OS?
Are you getting some kind of error message? What does Device Manager say about the driver?
    Did you downgrade from Vista?
Is your PC a build or a manufactured system? (Dell, HP, Gateway, etc.)

I'm guessing corrupted or missing, so:
You have a Realtek AC'97 sound chip. So first, you will need to uninstall the Realtek audio driver.
Go to Start>Control Panel> System. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager, then click the plus sign in front of Sound, Video, Game Controllers.
In Device Manager, if there is a ? in front of your audio device, that means no audio driver is installed.
A ! means driver installation attempted but with problems.

Disable the Audio driver (it may show as unknown)
Restart your PC. (This is so the driver unloads.)
Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall it,.
Run CCleaner, both the Cleaner and Registry.

    Install the chipset driver here:

Restart your PC, if the set up doesn't do it for you.

    Now install the audio driver:

Kevinnn, the more information you give, the easier it is for us to help you. If you answer all of musksnipe's questions, that's more than half of what he'll need to be able to give some serious assistance. And if you can answer those questions, there's a very good chance that he can solve your problem. But you've got to give us something to work with.

You haven't even told us which OS you're using! :confused

    EDIT:
I just noticed an Everest report that lists your OS. Sorry about that over-sight :)
