    Hello everyone!
So I've had this problem with my pc, unable to boot up with dual channel ram, unless I turned on the so called "XBoost" feature on my motherboard. After they took a look at it in a shop, they fixed it, but now I reset my bios for some other kind of problem solving. Later on I just realized, that the CPU stuff were not on default values, so I'm back to square one, but I got to admit, I'm kind of scared of tuning that part of the system. Sure, the pc works with xboost on, seems like an auto tuning feature or something, but there's must be a reason they went with the manual solution, besides, I do notice some hiccups in the performance now. So if anyone can help me figure out those numbers or the method etc... I would be thankful! Besides, it would be nice, to not leave my pc in for days for some bios adjustments and I can learn a new thing in the process.

    My system specs.:
    Windows 10 Home 64 bit
    AMD FX-8320
    16 gbDual Channel DDR3 573mhz (6-7-6-18) (4*4GB sticks)
    ASRock 970 Extreme 3 R2.0
4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Some more info about my ram sticks (They are identical):

    Reset the BIOS to Default.
    Post the RAM specs.

When you enable Xboost, your essentially overclocking the CPU to unleash more power.

To run the 1866 memory speed of your RAM, you would need this enabled as your mobo specs state: 1866/1800/1600MHz memory speed is supported depend on the AM3/AM3+ CPU you adopt.

They most likely manually set your CPU clock speed in your bios to compensate for your memory speed, and since you changed bios settings to troubleshoot another issue, this is why your back to square one!

The easiest way to enable Xboost is to press the X key during POST (PC start-up).
For better performance, you would have to most likely have to set a custom clock speed in the bios again.

    I am running a Gigabyte GA970A - DS3P AM3+ board with same Northbridge AMD970 & Southbridge SB950 as yours.

To my understanding this board should run the memory at 1333Mhz for maximum stability due to memory controller limitations on the cpu. If you look at the ASRock specifications for your mobo, it has red asterixes for all ram speed >1333Mhz

My board is stable with my Corsair ram 9-9-9-24 @ 1333Mhz and I believe that if you are experiencing hiccups that you feel are ram related then in the first instance you should check the speed of the ram.

Have you downloaded and run CPU-Z in order to clarify your ram speed?

    I followed these informative instructions

I also note that your CPU FX8320, Vishera, has a TDP of 125W which is the maximum really on this type of AM3+ board (even though on one of the photos it says 140W). Any o/c will likely tip your board and make it unstable as I presume that it must have a 4+1 VRM (like mine).

Eldon, can I have an ice cold beer too please :)

Sorry I just noticed that you have posted your ram speed 573Mhz (or 1146Mhz) you sure that's right?

    Please download CPU-Z

IMO, your timings 6-7-6-18 seem very tight also................
