I getting a new case, and I was wondering if I should have the fans blowing in or out. It has 3 fans (80 mm). Side panel fan port, back port, and a front port. Also it has a 400 watt pu, I currently have a 250 pu, do I have to change anything on the motherboard or anything else? Also should I start by installing the pu then the motherboard, then video card and sound card then the HDD, CD, floopy then the fans??can someone give me some hints or links to what I should do first when changing cases??

    Thanks,

    I have a P4 1.7, 512 mb ram, geforce 3 ti 200.

    Fans:

Fans in the front should be blowing air into the case. Fans in the back should be blowing air out of the case. The fan on the side should be blowing air onto your video card.

    PSU:

You shoulnt have to change anything on your mother board. Just make sure all your connections are secure, and in the right place.

    Setup:

Depending on how much room you have you might want to install the mother board first. Then the PSU. If you have a full size case there should be enough room for you to tuck the wires out of the way so you can install the mother board. One the mother board is in i would then go on to the HDDs, and the CD, DVD, ect. drives.

Once all those are in then go and install your video card, and other, PCI cards. Finish off by connecting all the rest of the cables, and the power cables.

    Tips:

Make sure you ground your self to the case. Touch a metal part of the case so you dont transmit static to other hardware.

Make sure all the standoffs are in the right place when you install the motherboard. If not you might short something out, and the motherboard will not be secured in the case well.

It is simipler to install the processor, and the memory before placing it into the case.

When you are finished, see how you can maxamize air flow, by moving wires, and tucking them away some where.

That is just a few things off the top of my head. If you have any other questions, just ask!

Stupid question but when your putting in the fans before putting power to them how can you tell which way they will blow??

there should be little arrows on the fan telling you which way the blades turn and which direction the air goes. but if you're too lazy to look for those stupid arrows, just remember that in 99.99999999% of all fans, the air will come out from the hub side. so if you look at the fan skeleton, the fan blades should be attached to a central hub on the frame, which is situated on one side of the fan. that's where the air comes from. i'm sure you'll have no problem with it, so instead of wishing you luck, i wish you the best of fun:)
