Did you go all the way through and configure the volumes to be used as shared storage.

Not sure exactly what you mean by that. Here's a screen shot of what I believe you are talking about...

Yes. Even tried to bring it up through windows explorer under computer and network. It is not visible to the network.

Try to \\xx.xx.xx.xx connect by ip, and does it ask for a username or password, or machine failed to be found?

When trying to put the ip into widows explorer it gives an error stating file cannot be found. But, I can log into the NAS by ip address just like logging into a router by web address.

I think Colemanguy wants you to put \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx in START > RUN

Correct, if you just put the ip in explorer its gonna try to use it like a website, which is not what your wanting. You will want to eventually probably map the share to appear as a hard disk, but to test to see if its a networking issue or what not just do the \\ip in start - run menu

Yeah.. tried that too. Same results. As far as my network, I have a networked printer and shared files and folders on several pc's. I think its more with my configuration of the NAS or the NAS itself. Meaning the software.

my guess is you have not enabled the CIFS service on your NAS. Go to services on your NAS and set up CIFS and a workgroup.

Seems using an old PATA drive was the issue. I slapped a Sata drive in and went back over the instructions on configuring the drive and it is now working.

Thanks for all the help on this.... Not sure why the other drive didn't work?? It was in CS mode on the jumper...Hmm :confused
