I'm setting up a wifi at a motel. I worked all day yesterday trying to get it to work with a Linksys router. With no luck. Today I'm taking a D-Link router of my own to see if I can get it to work. the setup is this: coming in from the phone company(Wctel), is a wireless modem with cable. then wired to a router, then wired to the first 7100AP as an access point. after that there will be a another 7100AP wireless as a repeater. the problem is I can't reach the internet there the first 7100AP. the laptop can connect but not to the internet. Why?

How far down the line can you ping? try pinging all the way down from a client to your public gateway ip. thatll give you some sort of idea as to where youre having problems.

are you sure that the modem you use doesnt route as well? if its wireless, it may be an all in one modem/router type deal.

will I was doing the pings, the thought of trying to see how it would work with a ready made cable, thinking the one I made may be bad. My cable was bad. I redid the ends and it is working great now.

    thanks
