Help with dial up

    I'm helping with friends computer. Trying to reestablish dial-up connection, (ugh). The password is supposed to be "formom". With a password revealer, it was Dial-up settings. So I change it back, but it keeps changing to the latter.

    Under internet options, connections, settings, I type in the right one, click OK, then go back to settings and it doesn't take!

    XP3, IE8. What the heck is going on?

    Have you tried an uninstall and reinstall?
    If somebody used a "cleaner" it may have altered something.
