Help with File Recovery

Hello, I have a problem I hope someone can assist with me with. Actually there are two problems, related.

I use Mozilla.
And I have had to backup my bookmarks, because ever so often when I would restart my computer, half of the folders/links in the bookmarks are missing.
It's been annoying but I could easily fix it by importing the saved bookmark file.

Now my recent problem.
This last time it happened, today. I accidentally exported (saving over) the file, rather than imported it. Basically deleting all my saved bookmarks.

Is there a way I can recover that old file, even though it's now been resaved?
And better yet is the missing of bookmarks a known issue with mozilla or am I just a lucky one?

Anway....to late now I'm sure. If you were to copy and paste something on accident, you can hit CTRL + Z. This is undo, btw....

But, now it is a tad late....

About your booksmarks....I wonder...I do need to look something up. Anyway, it sounds like your profile might be getting corrupted within mozilla (profile within mozilla NOT windows) somehow. Are you on a networked drive? Are you using the mozilla version that uses a memory stick? What OS are you running? How many extensions are you using?

 

not on a networked drive. Using Win XP. No memory stick.
It also 'forgets' my saved homepage as well. To the point where I gave up resetting it everytime.

Does IE have any issues? Just curious....
