OK I have an old compaq mobo with a 1000 AMD athlon VIA chipset. This system was running fine. I moved it to a diff case and put a diff HDD in. When I boot to 2000 disk I get a cannot read partition info. so I deleted Partition recreated it then installed windows. When I get to the windows load screen I get a cannot read from disk windows(0)partition(1)
looks something like that. so I have tried 3 diff HDD's all with the same problem and I also tried XP for the hell of it with a partition error.

If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. Kinda stuck right now.

Well, the same error with 3 different Hdds tells me that the problem is either with the motherboard or the cable. The first thing would be to change the IDE cable and see if that makes any difference. If not, I fear it is probably the motherboard.
