Can anyone help me with how to exit out of hibernate mode in XP?
I've tried the usual, ctrl/alt/delete, moving mouse and clicking, Esc, power off system and monitor, power back up. Switched out the monitor with no changes, switched out the mouse, no change.

When I power off the system and back on, it pops back on (power light) and checks keyboard and scanner but the monitor never comes on and the signal to it isn't present.I power up the monitor first. The amber power light comes on.
I power up the computer, the amber light changes to green briefly then switches back to amber as if the system is still in hibernate. So I have a blank screen.

The computer stops all activity (but the power light and briefly the disk led are lit) but the state on the monitor is still blank with an amber power light. To me the amber power light says the monitor is working but the system isn't communicating with it as if in a hibernate state.

So is this it for my hard disk? Do you think I can salvage any data from the disk if it is dead?
The keyboard initiates by flashing its lights, the monitor briefly flashes from amber to green, then the system seems to cut out and the green LED turns amber. Also the keyboard lights go out as well.

Something else that causes me to think the system is locked in hibernate is that when I power the computer off and then back on it doesn't seem to be rebooting. When the computer was operating correctly and I put a thumb drive in a usb port and powered up the computer, the monitor came up and displayed a script that the system could not boot from that disk. To see if I am correct about the hibernate situation, I put a thumb drive into the computer this AM and powered it up. Still no display. So is my disk stuck in hibernate? Is my disk fried?
