I have an interesting problem... Some long time ago (too long to try a system restore) I downloaded a torrent file which had a handful of images inside a folder, then out of disinterest I deleted all the images, the folder, and the .torrent file. Then about a week ago I searched "porn" into the Windows Search Bar and found only 1 file; the file had the same name I downloaded and deleted a while ago, but instead it was just a shortcut file (.lnk I think). So I tried to delete the file from the search results, but the right click didn't even work! I then tried going to the file's location (c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Recent), but the file did NOT appear; it wasn't even hidden when using a file manager program called 7-Zip... Right now I desperately NEED to remove the file, but so far, every attempt has failed. Please, PLEASE HELP ME!!!

    Hi

Its possible that the search indexing service still has this file in its catalogue, so try this.....

Open up Services (Control Panel > Administration Tools) and find the Indexing Service and click stop. then again in Administration Tools click Computer Management > open the Services and Applications branch and open up the Indexing Service branch and right click System and choose All Tasks and Empty Catalog (as seen in image below)

Thank you for the possible resolution, but unfortunately it still didn't solve the problem... :cry

I don't understand! I started the computer in Safe Mode, tried deleting the file, but it didn't even show up. I also tried re-creating a shortcut file of the same name and placing it in the recent folder (which it then became visible), then the file actually ended up being selectable in the Windows Search Bar (like it overwrote it)... only when I then deleted the file, it once again went "invisible" and still came up in the search results! I even deleted the recent folder, but it even still appeared in the search results! WHAT?!?!
