    Hello everybody,

recently (after complete reinstall of Windows XP Prof) I ve encountered a problem. Shortly after Win startup I got BSoD. I did tests with AVG antivirus, made run with 4 different spyware/adware tools, but found nothing. In the safe mode its working fine but immediately after switching to normal mode Win crashes again.

I tried to play a bit with services and found out, that this error appears only if Automatic updates service starting. When I disable it, it works fine. I did complete memory dump and made analyse of it, but Im not 100% sure what all those strange things mean :)

In attachement you ll find mentioned debug log.

    Installed system & programs:
    Win XP Prof
Kerio Personal Firewall v4 (not sure about exact build - not at home now)
    OpenOffice 2.0

Every little help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks! ;)

Examining the event logs is a MUCH easier way to debug these types of problems (usually - sudden crashes don't ALWAYS get logged). To check the event logs, please do the following:

    1. Right-click 'My Computer'
    2. Select 'Manage'
    3. Expand 'Event Viewer'

Here, you will find your application, security and system logs. Look for red x's or yellow exlamation marks around the times of the BSODs, and post them here, and we will see if we can help your further.

I did that, but there was not metnioned which driver/application caused that crash. Dont remeber full info, but there was something like Module: Unknown, Version 0.0000 or something like that. In short - event viewer wasnt helpful one bit :(

It'll help me, I reckon. I'm quite familiar with this particular error (if its the one I'm thinking of), and it is almost always preceeded by ANOTHER error that will give you the faulting application name. Please post the full details. Memory dumps require special tools (and alot of time!) to debug.
