not too tech savvy but here goes. Got a whole heap of programs wanting access to the net iiGGVg.exe, msa.exe, lkl.exe, qkc7p.exe and others. Have zonealarm and have denied access. I had pop ups prompting me to install paladan anti virus, I assumed it was related. Did not install it.

Have got three icons on the desktop youporn.com, nudetube.com and porntube.com

Malawarebytes was installed previously but now will not run. Downloaded SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition and installed but it will not run.

My symantec antivirus will not run auto protect.

I have run ccleaner several times ad manged to get rid of most of the annoying pop ups regarding what I assume are "fake" infections".

The computer is otherwise slow and occasionally runs out of virtual memory and often freezes requiring a manual restart.

    Can anyone help?

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please download and run the below tool named Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) which may help allow other programs to run.
There are 4 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.

Vista and Win7 users need to right click and choose Run as Administrator

You only need to get one of them to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.

    1. Rkill.exe
    2. Rkill.com
    3. Rkill.scr
    4. Rkill.pif
Once you've gotten one of them to run then try to immediately run the following.

Download and save the below to your PC (save it anywhere you can find it. The Desktop is fine). Then double click on it to run it.

    AVPFind.bat

It should take a couple minutes to run. You will see a black command prompt window while it is running and it should close when it is finished. Once it finishes, attach the c:\avplog.txt file that is will hopefully create as long as the malware does not block the batch file from running. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

    Now download and Run exeHelper

    • Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
    • Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
    • A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
    • A log file named log.txt will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com
    • Attach the log.txt file to your next message.
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Also please try running the below online scan:

    http://www.superantispyware.com/onlinescan.html

Reboot immediately after scanning if it finds and removes anything. Let me know if anything was found. See if you can save a log with it.

Then try running these instructions: Using MGtools

Attach the below logs when finished with all of the above:

    • C:\avplog.txt - from AVPfind
    • a log from online SAS scan if you could make one
    • log.txt - from exeHelper
    • C:\MGlogs.zip - from MGtools
The C:\ assumes that drive C is you Windows boot drive. If you boot from another drive, then use the correct drive letter above.

    Thanks

I've managed to regain some control over my computer since my original post but many problems persist.

    Now to following your instructions.

    Rkill.exe ran OK.

    AVPfind.bat ran OK.

exeHelper ran OK. But after running these programs I could no longer access this domain. I could browse other sites but not this one. I had to reboot to be able to post this message. Does that matter?

Logs should be attached. I'll proceed with the online scan and then MGtools and post those logs shortly.

    Thanks again.

    We are getting there. :)

    Let's do the following:

Download ComboFix directly to your desktop, but do not run it yet.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now copy just the bold text below to notepad (Do not include any space above the word REGEDIT). Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog469, and save it to your Desktop.

    * Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    * Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    * If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    * Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below code box into it (make sure you scroll all the way down in the code box to get all lines selected ):
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    * Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    * At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    * You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
If it asks you to overide the prvevious file with the same name, click YES.
    * Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif
    * Follow the prompts.
    * When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    * I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * C:\ComboFix.txt
    * C:\MGlogs.zip

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Glad you think we are making progress.

I followed all your instructions in this last post carefully.

    The reg change/update/addition worked successfully.

I did everything as required with the ComboFix and will attached the log. There did not seem to be any problems until I opened my browser (Firefox) and could not browse the 'net. I also tried IE with the same result.

I can log onto my router and it is working fine. I can use VNC viewer (which is what I am doing now) and log onto one of my remote computers to post this comment, but I could not send the MGlog via email (outlook) to this computer to attach it. I unzipped the log and saw a lot of files. I could copy and paste them onto my remote computer if neccessary but getting my browser working would be best.

    Any ideas?

Are you on a network using this IP 93.188.162.214??

    * Please download ( to a different computer and transfer via cd or thumb drive)
    TDSSKiller to your Desktop
    * Extract its contents to your Desktop so that you have TDSSKiller.exe directly on your Desktop and not in any subfolder of the Desktop.
    * Click Start > Run and copy/paste the following bold command into Run box and hit Enter.

    "%userprofile%\Desktop\TDSSKiller.exe" -v

    * Follow the instructions to type in "delete" when it asks you what to do when if finds something.
    * When done, a log file should be created on your C: drive named something like TDSSKiller.2.1.1_27.12.2009_14.17.04_log.txt which is based on the program version # and date and time run. Please attach this log to your next reply.

Use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\documents and settings\Karl\xjeGPL.bat
    c:\documents and settings\Karl\MpKBfr.bat
    c:\documents and settings\Karl\ZaqbyE.bat

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:

    * TDDSKill log.
    * C:\MGlogs.zip --> transfer to cd or thumb drive to attach it using a different computer if necc.)

Shall do. A minor problem though. I found where I got the problem from in the first place and manged to run it again while trying to delete it. I've tried finding where it might have installed any files with Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware but they come up clean.

I've probably undone all your good work. I'll run the TDSSKiller and we'll see. But I thought I'd better give you a heads up.

It'll take a few hours before I get a chance to get back.

    many thanks

I want you to run SAS and MBAM on the other user account.

    In the meantime:

    Registry::
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "vnqous"=-

SAS found a tracker cookie on the other account and MBAM found a reference to a rogue anti spyware in the registery. Both were quarantined and deleted.

I ran combofix and have attached logs as requested.

My computer is running better than ever, but I still cannot connect to the 'net using FF or IE. I can see that i am connected from my router and VNC viewer is working. I cannot connect to update any programs (SAS, MBAM, etc).

When the problems were at their worst I could not connect to some sites (www.bleepingcomputer.com was one) and there was like a "glitch" between loading each site where it seemed like I was redirected somewhere else before being sent to the site I had requested.

Now my browser is not even attempting to connect to sites. It just comes straight up to the "site could not be found" page.

    Any ideas?

Just noticed your question regarding whether the network I'm on uses the following IP 93.188.162.214. How do I check? I am connected to a router and that is connected to my ADSL line.

    Many thanks

    Double-click on C:\MGTools\analyse.exe.

In the Window that opens, look for the button that says None of the above, just start the program and click on that.

In the lower right-hand corner of the window that opens up, click on Config.

On the next page at the top, click on Backups

On the backups page, you should see all the items you deleted. Please put a checkmark next to these and then click on Restore:
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{CBA333A5-B21E-4499-AB15-2A2A1B6C0B2D}: NameServer = 93.188.162.214,93.188.166.56
    O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 93.188.162.214,93.188.166.56
    O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 93.188.162.214,93.188.166.56

When you finish clicking on restore, just close the window.

Now see if you can connect.

You're a genius. Well, now my browsers are working and my computer is running better (faster) than ever. I have uninstalled my old AV and zonealarm and installed comodo AV/firewall. Seems like a better alternative according to this site.

My only problem now is (and I'm not sure if it has to do with the malware or otherwise) is that none of the updates to programs such as MBAM, SAS and now comodo work. Can there be any other change we made that caused this to happen?

Otherwise I am ever so grateful for your help and am humbled someone I don't know and will never meet helped me out of such a difficult situation.

    Regards / KaaCee

I've gone back and checked the original settings from my ISP and see that the primary and secondary dns servers had been changed. Can malware do that? Anyway, I changed them back and now I have full internet function.

I'm hoping we are done. Can that be true?

Yes, malware can do that. Good to know all is working well.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 6 of the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    9. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
