    Hey,
So I complete the major steps in the READ & RUN ME FIRST while in safe mode. I ran...

    1) CCleaner
    2) Microsoft Windows Software Removal Tool
    3) AdAware
    3) Spybot
    4) Microsoft Windows Defender

After restarting into safe mode with networking...

    5) BitDefender found nothing
    6) Panda Active found dialers (attached as Activescan1.txt)

I restarted my computer normally and ran...

    7) HijackThis also attached (hijackthis1.log)

Please let me know the next step that I should take. I really appreciate your help. I've spent hours fixing a stupid mistake when I double-clicked an exe file I shouldn't have.

    Matt

I remember where I downloaded the bad exe file if that helps. It was off of the keygen.name website where they offer to give you a serial number by running an exe file. Very stupid thing to do and I certainly know better now. Ironically I was trying to get the serial number for a tool that said it could fix another software problem I had. I'm a mess, but I hope I'm not helpless.

    Welcome to MGs!

Please go back and read step 7 again and follow the directions to install HJT properly.

Then attach a new log but only after installing it correctly.

Alright. I reinstalled HJT in the correct folder. Sorry about the mistake. I've attached the updated log file.

Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: winlzv32 - winlzv32.dll (file missing)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete
    :
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfrgsrv.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\temp\win1F5.tmp.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\temp\win1F9.tmp.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\temp\win1FC.tmp.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\temp\win1FF.tmp.exe

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST)
    .

Now we need to Reset Web Settings:
    1. If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2. Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.
Now reboot in normal mode and post a new HJT log.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now.

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

Okay. I was able to complete all of the steps above. I've attached hijackthis3.log. How's it look?

Looks okay! So how is everything working?

Things seem to be working fine. I'm always skeptical b/c I was burned yesterday when I thought I caught the damn thing. I decided to restart the computer again and run IE (I usually use firefox).

I'll attach the latest HJT log.

FYI - I think I recalled that every hour, on the hour, that bud would return. So if it comes back can I post again?

Again, thank you so much for your time.

Still clean like the last log!

Exactly what comes back every hour?

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

After that, you should work thru the below link:

How to Protect yourself from malware!

A bunch of those temp files you had me removed, but they are named something else. It seems like my problems just start out with those, and if I leave my computer on I get more and more problems. Fortunately, your online guides helped to remove nasty things like spyfalcon and others, but I could never get rid of those TMP files that kept executing. I think I saw an antispyware program call it Universa Application, but don't quote me on that.

Well make sure you complete the How to protect thread and get a firewall installed.

Alright man. I did the system restore deal and I'm going to go step by step through the protections.

Again, I want to thank you. I don't know how some of us idiots get lucky enough to have free help. I really appreciate it man.
