help with networking me and xp

    i have me and my m8 has xp and we play games and 4 some reason when we play cs /and hl mods i have 2 make the server cos every time i open up the menue where t has the options of making or joining a lan his alaways disconnects its not that big of a problem and i alaways have 2 make a server and hs pc is more faster more ram ect and there is a lot of lag whenni make it what should i do and i have trouble seing his files but he can c mine any help wuld b great

    Sounds like a permission problem, is his XP firewall turned off or set to allow the connection? Does he have some advanced network security going where XP would close ports or refuse connections?
