Tried an emergency boot disk? http://www.answersthatwork.com/Download_Area/Downrights/Windows_XP_SP2_Boot_Disk.exe
I usually recommend bootdisk.com but the link for XP on their web page is hosed. I also have never linked directly to a download, but did this time. You could also use the Windows XP Recovery console and try the fixboot command, although that may not be your issue. Stopped using Norton in 2004 after having to revert to 2003 for the year. Used Trend Micro's PC-cillin since, and recently scrapped that after 6 months of a 12 month subscription, on 3 PC's. Use freeware anti virus and firewall for windows now, and shorewall on Linux.

    Hi Hacker24,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

First, the reason why Norton would no longer update or launch could be attributed to an expired license, an infection or a software conflict.

If you have not already done so, I would highly suggest that you use the Norton Online Security scanner located at the following link to test your system for infections. Please make sure that you use Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher when running these tests.

Norton Online Virus and Security Scanner

The uninstall of Norton that you performed may not have fully removed some components and may attribute to the problem you are now having. Please follow these steps to properly remove Norton.

    1. Click on the following link to download the Norton Removal Tool:

    Norton Removal Tool and Instructions

    2. After you run the tool, please restart your computer. Then log in to Windows again and run the removal tool again. Restart your computer after it is finished running the second time as well.

If you are going to purchase the new Norton 2009 products and would like assistance, please let me know and I would be happy to assist you in properly installing the product.

    Thank you,
    Mike
