OK, BT, I will go along with that, BUT, why do other sites load and work with no problem? Check this link out: http://www.albertaclassic.net/miracle.php Let the page load, then scroll down to the bottom, and click "Go to the Miracle of Life" and let that page load, then at the bottom, you will see another button, and when it says, "Loading Complete" you click that to go to the next page. Now, each page has moving birds, and that site works like a charm. I have no problems with it at all. Yes, it requires java to be enabled.. Check it out and you will see what I mean... rolleyes

Some of the skins haven't been upgraded for Opera 10.0. When I had problems these similar problems, I was using the mirage_aprice-3 skin. Now I'm using the 1dragon_blues-09_0115 skin and haven't had a glitch since I switched to it. So if you have a skin active, try switching to the Opera Standard skin. Same thing can happen in Firefox, a skin may collide with some installed extensions, or not work correctly with the latest version.

OK, I just removed teh picture in speed dial, and changed the skin to Opera Standard :System color scheme... I will now close and reopen.. Be right back;)

Nope, that made no difference at all.. Still the same .....rolleyes

My :cry tears are still frozen and I cannot :wave Maybe a broken arm.. But, I think I will sleep on it for tonight, and have at it again in the morning.. Are you game, Plastidust? ;)

Now, I know something weird is going on.. I changed the APPERANCE back to sand......This guy :wave just started waving! Folks, what do you say, we hit the hay and have at it again tomorrow? Maybe sleeping on it will be good for us.....OH NO! Now, I have :cry REAL TEARS!
Are you SURE we aren't in the twilight zone?????:-D

Maybe the picture on the speed dial was hampering things, eh?

Sure.. just followed your link to The miracle of new life site. Under Edit site preferences and then scripting I had to check Enable JavaScript but under the content tab I left Enable animated images and Enable Java unchecked and the birds still moved.

    Outer Limits.

OK, but enable animated images has always been checked on this one.. Now, all the gifs are moving...:clap All I can think of, is maybe the picture had done what you said, "collide with some installed extensions," I have no other explanation for it really.... Honestly, I am quite :confused and also tired, so think it is time to :zzz and I will see yous two in the morning? Hope so, it is getting late...;)

A couple of things to look into.

Under Tools>Preferences>Web Pages, in the Images selection box do you have Show Images or Cached Images selected? If Cached Images, try changing to Show Images.

Don't really think this is it but, went to Opera site and checked this out:

    Browser JavaScript Explained: http://www.opera.com/docs/browserjs/

Scroll down to: Enabling browser.js and right below that is: Checking for updates manually.

    Might be worth checking.

Good morning all. ALL the gifs are working just fine, even the homepage dials.. The picture HAD to be the reason, Plastidust, I can't figure out any other reason... I talked to another guy who is not a member here, but he also has Opera 10.0, and a fresh download, and he is also on a DUN. He has 'no picture' on his speed dial. He had no problems either.. He just popped in to check a few threads, but said everything was working.. Brilliant deduction, my friend! :p

I have show images checked, and it has always been that way. So is enable animated images

yes, I'll check out that link. Thanks. ;)

Glad it's working right!:-D I didn't think of the pic, you did so pat yourself on the back. And now we know something new to check when there is a problem.

    TeeCee MajorGeek

OK, but you gave me the idea with the skins.. I didn't have a 'skin' installed, only standard with sand color. I changed that, and nothing happened. BUT, when I removed the picture, AHHH, that was an "Ah HA!" :drool moment! You put the bug in my ear, Plastidust! ;) You deserve the pat on the back, my friend!:-D

Just out of curiosity, what kind of pic was it? JPEG, PNG...? Maybe converting it to something else might keep it from causing problems.

Hi, it was a JPEG. and a small one at that. Just a pic of blue sky with a few clouds.. Nah, I'll just leave it off now... I don't need it:-D It was just for looks anyway...(maybe the couds?):-D

    TeeCee MajorGeek

Well, that didn't last long... I looked at that link, Plastidust, and cleared cookies, and they just stopped on me again... Not all of them this time, just about half....

These guys are not moving at all: :-D:cry:wave :p:yum:drool :major:zzzrolleyes

while all these are moving non-stop::clap:eek:dancer:hyper:tas:banghead:mad:celebrate:foolish:neener:boxing:heart

I will continue checking, and see what I can find out....
This is confusing, for sure..... :banghead

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you mention that you had the same prob with the old version of Opera and that's why you updated to the version you have now? Could it be something with your pc that's not showing up that is keeping Op from not functioning proper but yet allows IE to work as far as the smileys. and it only happens here at MG's right? That's what confuses me. They say it's not them but yet here is the only place you have that problem with,:confused:confused

It could be something else on the system Bigtrucks but I'm leaning towards something in Opera preferences or something in the Opera6.ini file.

TeeCee, this is a bit drastic so you might want to back up your bookmarks first just in case you have to import them later.

First you need to exit Opera then back up the Opera6.ini file. You'll find it at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\'UserName'\Application Data\Opera\Opera\profile\opera6.ini

Now restart Opera. It should recreate the .ini file and set everything to default.

Before you do any of that, should you choose to except the mission, compare your settings to the attached thumb nail. You might try tinkering with those first.

Oops, forgot to say, you need to delete the original opera6.ini file before you restart Opera.

Hi Plastidust, too late for that, I used Revo and removed it.. I did have Opera 9.64 before 10.0. I had the same issue.. So, I removed 9.64 with Revo, and also used CCleaner to be sure nothing was left.. Rebooted, did maintanance yet again, rebooted, and then downloaded Opera 10.0.... That was really nice at first, but then the same issue started again.. :cry

I had just had enough of it tonight...:( Maybe, someday, I will try it again, but I am thinking it has to do with being on a DUN. I know others who use Opera that do not have this issue, but all are on hi-speed connections...

I even went to Opera's forum, and posted my problem, with no answers except "I'm not having any problems... Mine works fine..." But, there were a lot of 'issues' being posted that were not getting answers to at all either, so I just lay it down to the slow Internet connection... I have no other answers... Nothing I tried worked.. Thank you for your reply, tho. I do appriciate it... ;)
