Help with PC...

Hey all,
I have ran all the steps in the sticky twice. My problem is not really pop ups or anything like that. I'm getting frequent system pauses and also I can't seem to install or run a lot of programs (as you'll see below) and I think it might be because of malware, I just want to make sure it is so I can narrow down my problem if it's hardware. Here's what happened.
Step0: No problems
Step1: Using Windows 98
Step2: Enabled
Step3: Using AntiVir (Would like to use AVG like my other PC but it will not install)
Step4: OK, CCcleaner ran fine; Adaware ran fine (with no detections); SpyBot will run fine with no detections, but I can't download all the updates; CounterSpy will not intstall (Error 1304. Error writing to file C:\ProgramFiles\SunbeltSoftware\CounterSpy\Consumer\SWRes.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory.); HJT Installed fine;
Step5: Everything ran good except (see Step4).
Step6: This is the problem again. I ran BitFinder twice and at around 30 minutes it freezes my PC so I have no log. I also tried to run PandaScan (Not Allowing applications ActiveX control to be downloaded. Problem with Internet Connection.). So therefore I have no log for it either. I've also tried to run HouseTrend and get the same type errors.
Step7: HJT ran fine and I got a log.

Please help with these installation and download problems. I would love to be able to protect my computer but I can't.

Your HijackThis log shows no signs of Malware.

Error 1304 is a Installer error. You may be experiencing problems with OS itself or software conflicts.
