Help with Start Up Please....

Hi All,

Well, your awesome Malware buddies helped me remove all the damage my 14 year old created on this computer so since I'm in fixing mode I thought I'd do one more post.

I know this is the world of instant gratification and I'm guily but I'm ready to throw out this pc when it takes 6 - 8 minutes to boot up!!!!! I've disabled some programs not to load at start up but the others I need help with. I read other threads with the same problems and see lots 'o advice. I ended up downloading WinPatrol to help with this problem in the future but I'm hoping you can clear me out now.

I would love it if you could tell me what I absolutely must keep at start up and I'll disable all and/or remove the others based upon your expert opinionsl

Okay, first time I've seen a winpatrol log.

I'd use msconfig to modify your startup options.

Or use Startup Inspector:

Then click "Consult", while connected to the internet. This may/should/sometimes/occasionally/(if you are lucky) give you suggestions whether or not a certain program is really neccesary to startup.

For a quick test. I'd click START, then RUN, then type in: msconfig (press enter).

Then select the radial ( ) button "Selective Startup".
Now, Uncheck "Startup Items".

Then select the startup tab. Now, check any boxes that relate to norton, I.E. ccapp, etc.

Press Ok. Yes, to reboot. If you do not notice any issues, with your daily tasks then everything should be fine.

BTW.

What are your system specifications? Ram, cpu, etc?

Have you defragged lately?
