Ok, I wasn't sure which forum I should post this in, but here is my question. I recently installed a new DVD burner into my windows xp machine. Windows found the hardware and installed the drivers. I then installed the bundled software that came with the burner. I then proceeded to reboot my machine (so far so good) then as the machine was rebooting, I get past the splash screen and that is when the problem started. Nothing, Nada. all i had was a blank screen. I tried to reboot into safe mode so that I could uninstall the drivers and software but safe mode wouldn't boot up. It just hung up. I tried to reload xp ( when it checked and found a previous copy of xp it asked to repair the installation, which I allowed) and when I rebooted, it comes up to the windows installation part but I have an error box that comes up. the error is " lsass.exe system error" "an invalid parameter was passed to a service or function" no when I press the x in the corner of the error box or press the ok button, the machine just starts the loop all over again. Now the only reason that I haven't reformatted the machine and started over again is that I don't want to loose my email that is in my outlook. ( no I didn't have time to create a pst file) Is there anyway to either repair my windows or how can I get my email ?

Any help would be very appreciated.

You have a couple of options here: you can hook your hard drive to a 2nd PC with your drive as the slave, do a search for any .dbx files (Outlook Express files) and save them - OR - get a 2nd hard drive and install it in your PC as the master, load WinXP to it, then slave your original drive to it and save your data - OR - download and create a UBCD4Win (Ultimate Boot CD for Windows- just Google UBCD4Win). Boot into the CD and navigate to your files and save them to a thumb drive or burn 'em to a CD. If you're going to burn a CD, you'll need 2 CD drives: one CDRW and another drive to boot the UBCD. The UBCD cannot be removed while its running so you'll need the 2nd optical drive for the burning of your emails..... I hope this helps.... if you need more info or help, feel free to ask!!!!

I am using Outlook 2007 for my email so would it have the same extensions (dbx) as outlook express or would they have something more akin to outlook 2003?
