    If you are using Windows XP, perhaps using the restore feature will recover the lost bookmarks

    How do you use the recover feature? please.

    Hopefully your PC has the restore feature enabled! I'm not actually in front of a WinXP system right now, and it has been a while since I have used the Restore function (I usually have that feature turned off) but the following instructions should be pretty much what you need to find and utilize restore on your machine.

    You can access the RESTORE feature by opening the HELP console (listed on the START menu) and finding and selecting the option on the page that is displayed;

    . . . . or

    Go to START, then PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then SYSTEM TOOLS. On the menu under SYSTEM TOOLS you will find the System Restore option. Select it.

    . . . then

    There should be a calendar displayed, that will list all the restore points that your system has saved, day by day. Choose to restore your PC to an earlier time. Just click on a day that is before you accidently deleted the bookmarks. On the little menu that pops up to the right of the calendar, select a restore point. Then select the option to restore your pc to that earlier time. You will not loose any files you have placed on the system - but if there were updates to Windows XP itself you may have to reinstall those by visiting the Windows update site.

    I'm not sure this will correct the problem, but if you cannot find the lost bookmarks it is worth a try. I know a restore point once saved me when I accidently deleted an important file from a third-party program on my WinXP machine - it wasn't firefox, but it wasn't part of windows either.

    If you don't know what Restore Points are, chances are they are enabled, because that's the default setting. So cross your fingers and pray that it's the case. v_v

    Could it be in the recycle bin?!

    I don't use FireFox so not sure if you could have just hit something that might hide the bookmarks. It could just be a simple fix. If you get to the point you need to recover them, you might try the steps below. But, you can wait and see if someone who uses FireFox might have some other things to try.

    Application Data should be close to the top, right under your username. Be sure to click on the small triangle to expand it.

    1.Click Start, and then click Control Panel
    2.Double-click Folder Options
    3.On the View tab, under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders

    Go back and see if that shows it.
