help!

my ad-aware keeps picking up this and it usually cannot delete it , and when it appears to have gotten rid of it it returns the next time ad-aware is run.My computer is running great and doesnt seem to be botherd by is.

Sounds like a virus.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command

Go to regedit and tell me what the value of the data key is on the right.

Virus scan would be good, from an online scanner, seeing how the one on your computer may be compromised.

I can't be certain which key is infected, as ad aware is using a nonstandard reference to it, but it may be more than exe, or soemthing else than exe.

just keep in mind, only a malicious program would edit these settings.

 

how do i get to regedit, my ani virus isnt picking it up, i have tried avg and antivir

type
regedit
click OK

navigate through the folders.

Be careful.


Once again, an online virus scan would be better than whats on your computer in the event it is compromised.

ok i found the file should i click on it?

 

it has something to do with script sentury which antivir picked up on and i sent it to the recycle bin and dumped it , should i have done that

You should have an explorer view.

When you get to the last folder, 'command', highlight it and read the data on the right.

thanks, i got rid of script sentry anyway so i guess i wont worry about it, what is script sentry

 

when i followed the ad-aware path it brought me to script centry which is what antivir picked up on
