I have the Flip UltraHD Video Camera. Recently it interacted with some water so I threw it in a towel as I had to go out, but when I got home it wasn't working. So I took the battery out and left it in rice for 3 days because apparently that helps. Still didn't work after that, however, so I started looking online for a new one. £229 on Amazon! No thanks...So I plugged it into my laptop again, and the red light came on briefly and my laptop started installing an "unrecognised device" driver, but then it disconnected again. That keeps happening. It won't charge, it doesn't say "connected" when it's plugged in, nothing, and it disconnects after about 5 seconds.

I've tried everything I've found so far on the internet, and I've phoned around to see if it can get repaired but nobody seems to be able to offer anything. Would anyone on here have any idea what's gone wrong? I didn't wanna waffle in the OP so if you need anymore information I'll provide it, I just want a way to save my camera and £200 in the process.

Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

When an electronic gets wet, the 2 biggest things are remove the battery and do not try to turn it on as that does more damage if its wet.

Letting it dry out thoroughly will sometimes work, but sometimes they are just fried. The only thing I can suggest is throw it back in a bag of rice without the battery and leave it there for a week or 2. Personally, I would do at least 2 weeks to make sure it's totally dry before trying it.

Hmm could do that. Only thing though, is that the red light turns on briefly when I plug it in but then goes off, that goes to show that the USB must be working...but it isn't recognised as a camera :/

I would say that means that at the very least, it has not dried out. If you want any chance of it working, you should stop trying to turn it on and let it go for at least another week. The fact that you are getting any life at all is good...but if there is moisture still in there, every time you turn it on could be leading to more damage.

Alright, I'll put it back in the rice. Nothing happens when I try to power it on, so just gotta hope I haven't done any damage by trying to do so.

    Thanks.

That's exactly what my sister did... after accidentally dropping her phone in their swimming pool :-o and her phone is back to normal.
