Help

When I connect to Official Steam games like Counter-Strike it will have a hard time refreshing the servers and when I try to connect to a server it dosent connect. It just goes the the game info screen. And then right after I try to connect to a server ill get on internet explorer and the whole connection dosent work. No webpages nothing. And now all of my other games are messing up (Jedi Academy,Battlefield 1942) Jedi Academy Works but it dosen't refresh or "get" all the servers that I know are there but don't show up...sometimes the servers don't even come up and then I will exit the game and guess what...the internet is not working for like 2 mins, and then it will work again but still not get all the servers. My Cable Modem provider told me to run spyware and anti-virus. I did (Using Norton and ad-ware) and deleated everything it came up with but it still did not fix my problem. What is wrong? I just wanna play my games!
