    I am getting alot of pop ups telling me I have a virus download this etc, I have done the checks and cleans previously mentioned on thsi site but I am getting run errors and compouter keeps on resetting Im not 100% the best with computers attached is the Hijack log Id appreciate help, thankyou

    Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.


    After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
    • Bitdefender
    • Panda Scan
    • HijackThis

    I done all the checks mentioned, CCleaner cleaned all temp files etc so did Windows Malicious Software Removal Ad-Aware kept crashing when scanning so did Defender, I keep getting pop ups still and Error messages for DLL and computer freezes. Ive attached the Hijack Log

    You must follow ALL the steps in the READ & RUN ME thread. You have not completed all of them. I do not see Spybot S&D install as requested, and as my previous message stated, you must attach the two online scanner logs (which must be run before using HijackThis) and you must download the correct version of HijackThis (yours has not been used in 2 years) from the link I gave you and you must install it properly. Please follow the directions we give and click on the links given and read all instructions. You must make sure you have the proper versions of all tools and that you have the current updates to them.

    Also uninstall the two below junk rogue tools you were probably tricked into installing:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpySpotter System Defender] C:\Program Files\SpySpotter3\Defender.exe -startup
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AdwareAlert] C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert\AdwareAlert.Exe -boot

    I may just re-wipe my computer and re-install XP as its too time consuming as my computer kept srashing when trying to run the other spybot search and destroy and then it said nothign found. the Hijack this link I got from this website

    No you did not! Our link is for version 1.99.1! We have not had 1.97.7 for two years.

    The decision to format is yours to make. It is time consuming too! You have to backup all data you need, you have to reinstall all software, get all updates and patches and reinstall, etc. And then you need to retweak all your settings etc. Again the decision is yours to make.

    Are you going to attach the two logs from step 6 of the READ & RUN ME?

    And are you going to follow step 7 to get the proper version of HijackThis and get it installed correctly?

    Once you do that, we can try to determine what your problems are.

    Also did you uninstall those to rogue tools I already mentioned?

    Im in work at the monet are you in USA? as when I get home the time difference means many people arent online. I will try the steps 6 and 7 when I get back but it kept crashing last time and wouldnt let me do it, I appreciate all your advice

    Bitdefender I couldnt find a page to save a report it found surfsidekick but couldnt remove it for some error Ive donwloaded the new Hijackthis and attached is my report

    The directions in step 6 are quite clear on how to create the reports for BOTH on line scanners. You must run both and attach the logs. If you cannot do it in safe mode for some reason, do step 6 in normal boot mode.

    Also you still are not following the instructions in step 7 for installing HJT properly. You are using WinRaR to run it directly from inside the ZIP file. You must extract the hijackthis.exe file from the ZIP and put it into the folder we explain how to create. If you do not do this, you will not get any backups of things fixed by HijackThis and if something goes wrong you could be in trouble since you will not be able to restore from the backups since none would be created.

    After you install HJT properly, to help keep you moving along continue onto the below:


    Please download Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to your desktop.
    • Close all windows before continuing.
    • Double-click Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to run it.
    • Put a check next to Run this program as a task.
    • You will receive a message saying Look2Me-Destroyer will close and re-open in approximately 10 seconds. Click OK
    • When Look2Me-Destroyer re-opens, click the Scan for L2M button, your desktop icons will disappear, this is normal.
    • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove L2M button.
    • You will receive a Done Scanning message, click OK.
    • When completed, you will receive this message: Done removing infected files! Look2Me-Destroyer will now shutdown your computer, click OK.
    • Your computer will then shutdown.
    • Turn your computer back on.
    • Please attach the C:\Look2Me-Destroyer.txt log.
    If Look2Me-Destroyer does not reopen automatically, reboot and try again.

    If you receive a message from your firewall about this program accessing the internet please allow it.

    If you receive a runtime error '339' please download MSWINSCK.OCX from the link below and place it in your C:\Windows\System32 Directory.

    Then attach a new HJT log too and let me know how things are working.
