    I was asked by a buddy of mine to look at his dad's PC. He had someone else looking at before me, so i cannot tell you what was done before i got involved. I did go through the basics of cleaning up some stuff and removing some programs as well as running all the required scans. The problem started about 2 weeks ago when they could not get any e-mails past the letter H, which has now turned into not being able to logon to their email server even though they are typing the correct password (they think it is correct). They are using Windows Live Mail to access their email. I sure hope you can help in this one.

    You did not upload the correct log for Malware Bytes, please follow the instructions and try again to get me the log.

    Snap.Do <<< Uninstall this.

    Re run Hitman Pro, activate/enable the free trial, and then let it remove all that it finds.

    Fix items using RogueKiller.

    Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    When it opens, press the Scan button
    Now click the Files tab and locate these detections:

    • [PUP][Folder] C:\Program Files (x86)\Coupons -> Found
    • [PUP][Folder] C:\Program Files (x86)\DriverRestore -> Found
    • [PUP][Folder] C:\Program Files (x86)\ShowMyPCService -> Found
    • [PUP][Folder] C:\Program Files (x86)\System Optimizer Pro -> Found

    Place a checkmark next to each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
    When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
    Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

    Download Cleano 1.31

    Download it to your desktop, Right click the cleano.exe file and run as admin > and place check marks in the boxes as follows (click on link below to see image)

    View attachment 148092
    Click clean now and exit the program.

    Delete this:
    C:\Windows\system32\tasks\SuperFastPC_AutorunOnStartup

    http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

    Re run Hitman Pro and upload fresh log.
    Same for RogueKiller.
    Explain how things are running.

    Kestrel13!,

    Sorry, I had Bowling last night and did not get through all the steps you provided yesterday, Malware Bytes had a newer log that i hopefully uploaded correctly this time. I did not see these two when I re-ran RK but i did delete the other 2.
    • [PUP][Folder] C:\Program Files (x86)\Coupons -> Found
    • [PUP][Folder] C:\Program Files (x86)\DriverRestore -> Found
    JRT gave me a FAILED 0X80070422 error as well as that it failed to create a restore point. I ran Revo in Moderate Mode and it also told me that the system restore point failed, but it did indeed allow me to delete it and i did select ALL remnants it found in the registry ( I hope that was the right thing to do).

    Things are running better than when i got the box for sure, but i tried to get to their e-mail and i still get the error connecting to their email server, although I tried before re-booting after running REVO. Will do that next after posting here.

    Thanks!

    Glad you like the Number 13 as well!!

    Still no luck connecting to their e-mail server after the re-boot. As long as i know the system is clean, then i will pursue the e-mail issue with their internet provider to be sure the password is indeed correct. BTW, i will be bowling again tonight so i may not check back until the morning.

    I do ;)

    Well, the logs are looking good, so it might be best if you pursue this email issue in the software forum. Best of luck!

    I will try the provider first so as not to waste space on the forum and go from there. Thanks again for all the GREAT help from ALL of you that provide this forum. I know some things, but consider myself a pure novice compared to all of you here at Major Geeks, and i always suggest to Friends and family to check out a FANTASTIC SITE! That reminds me, i need to include a link to this site on my Personal site.

    You are *most* welcome, prowler13.

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
