not understanding,,,, i am right there....................

 

have you tried the speakers on another machine or mp3 player to check that the problem is not with them ??

Go to Start> Control Panel> Admin Tools> Services> scroll down to Windows Audio and check to see if it is started and set to Auto..

my image is of win 7 but they should more or less look the same.

Update your OS to SP3 for now.... it is getting very late and I need to go to bed I will check in sometime later on today ok.

ok where are you plugging your speakers in ?? is it in the I/O plate or one of the expansion slots ??

Thats alright at least we have been on the right track as the I/O plate indicates that it is using the onboard Audio. Last thing I will ask you to do is to check to see if the onboard Audio is activated in the Bios.....

The BIOS Setup program is accessed by pressing the <F2> key after the Power-On Self-Test (POST) memory test begins and before the operating system boot begins. Go to the Advanced > Peripheral / onboard Configuration menu to make sure onboard audio is enabled.

Hi, your Sound is enabled via the Bios so thats good.

I haven't got a lot of time today but I will rattle my brain a bit to see if I can come up with another work around.

hey good morning ..thanks ... i put sp3 back on and when i turn up the speakers i hear speaker static sounds but still nothing so i at least know that the speakers are in the correct place

 

why cant i download ie8 i have tried about 6 times and it doesnt take

FINALLY.... had finally got ie8 downloaded and went and did the hotfix..then i put the disk in for soundmax which i had before downloaded that and now i have sound...thanks so much for your help
