Here's a good one...my computer just whistled ? ? ?

I have a brand new computer, just got it up and running this Tueday. Just now it whistled for no reason I can determine. Coincidently at the time of the whistle my monitor was quivering. Any ideas? Weird!

Maybe it was the cable TV or one of the cell phones? My sense of sound direction sucks. Whatever in this house could whistle and pretty loud too.

 

That could be your flyback on your monitor which has happened to me though my monitor started smoking after the buzzing and quit.

 

Wow! That's so cool. Yes I was on the Internet, don't remember where I was, I was checking around for stuff. I just got this new Dell Windows XP and I guess I'm in for lots of new surprises. I'll keep an eye out for the smilies....

The monitor had shivered and the whistle was kinda mechanical and pretty short.

I don't believe this! It was my cell phone telling me I have a message coming back from CallWave which I was testing to see if it works on my new computer. It wasn't a regular phone call to my cell phone. My sense of sound isn't good and with the new computer I just foolishly tought it was coming from it....(I didn't completely ass-u-me it). Thanks for all your input. I love this website. Nice to have friends right here with me.

 

Cellphone signals can do that to your monitor and so can non-computer speakers. If I were you I'd keep the cellphone in your pocket and not next to the monitor because it can cause the monitor to start messing up.
