I'm finally fed up with the noise and dismantled my Boogie for a major cleaning. Just thought I'd ask your opinion re: what you recommend/use for cleaning out potentiometers... I have DeixIT and ProGold on my list so far. Actually, those are both CAIG products, I see.

What do you use, if you don't mind sharing?

    Thanks

I compressed air while turning them back and forth rather violently. If that doesn't work I replace them.

I used to use electrical contact cleaner called Blue Shower. I think we used to get it from the Technitool catalog, but I'm sure Radio Shack would have something similar.

    Thanks guys...
I used the ProGold and it seems to have done the trick.
Both of your suggestions sound a lot LESS expensive, that's for sure.
A can for $15...hmm... Well, considering I haven't cleaned it for 5 years, it'll be worth it if it's not needed again for that long.

I'm considering swapping it for a 4X12 Boogie cab with Black Shadows. The Combo is actually worth more, but I'm ready to change my set up. Since I picked up a Line 6 Pod XT, I have the urge to run it through a totally clean system with just some good power and a nice cabinet. Should be interesting.

    Thanks again!

Black shadows rip bro. And you can get some killer tones out of the POD if you set it up right. How about some pics of your current setup? :D

    6l6's or KT88's?

6L6s... I'm not aware of the practical difference... could you tell me?

Supposedly KT88's have a lot more bottem end but don't have the headroom(volume) that the 6l6's have. I have had no experience with 88's so I really couldn't tell ya. Personally I love 6l6's for clean/blues stuff, for rock/metal stuff I prefre EL34's.

I haven't for a long time. Maybe if I get some time this weekend I will record some lame attempts of me doing some Trower and post them :D
