    Hej peeps.

    Been a lurker on Major Geeks for years. Finally decided to join, forced to join because of my problem but happy to be here finally :cool

    I keep getting this message:

    Your browser's cookie functionality is turned off. Please turn it on.

    I've been into cookies and turned it on and still I cannot log into my Gmail account or my Twitter and the wife cannot log into Hotmail. She can log into her Facebook ok and I can log into my football (soccer) forum no problem.

    I have three browsers Mozilla (my preferred one), Internet Explorer and Google Chrome. ALL of them have the same message when we try to log into the above accounts.

    I've ran Spybot, Norton, Malware Bytes and Advanced Care System. Other than the usual trash that comes from Torrents they're not finding anything that could be causing this.

    I've checked the Firewall. I've checked the cookies tab in the control panel. I've no idea what to do.

    Thanks for the help in advance. I promise not to use yous for a solution then disappear :):):)

    Greetings, albabhoy81, and welcome to MajorGeeks...

    Try clearing any temporary internet files caches via Internet Options. You might even install and run CCleaner, a free files cleaner (run the cleaning portion of the program but leave the Registry cleaner alone for now) - see if you get a change in symptoms.

    *Be advised: this thread will probably be moved to the Software Forum - good luck!

    Thanks Caliban, mate. I look forward to using the forum. I'm no geek, just a wannabe lol

    I've cleared the cache, mate. I've done everything within my nOOby powers.

    Downloaded that CC and the Auslogics Defrag after reading how to speed up the computer. Once the defrag is done I'll give CC a shot.

    Strange problem. After the defrag/cleanup if you're still seeing the issues try logging in via a secure address - for example, https://mail.google.com/.

    albabhoy81...

    A suggestion on cleaning with CCleaner. I have used it for many years, and I would recommend turning off all but the settings for removing temporary internet files from your browser. Here's how they look in CCleaner:

    Internet Explorer-"Temporary Internet Files"
    Firefox/Mozilla-"Internet Cache"
    Opera-"Internet Cache"

    Never used any other browsers recognized by CCleaner, but I suspect the setting would be one of the two in quotes above.

    Sorry about the length of this (see below)...couldn't resist...

    While you're whittling away at this silly problem, and since you are an aspiring noob, perhaps you'd like to make some improvements to your system. If you don't have these I recommend them highly. They can both be found here at MG:

    GameBoost and ProcessLasso...both freeware here at MG

    GameBoost...suggested settings "Yes" for 3,5,6,8,9,10,14,15
    ProcessLasso...From the program menu (all other setting as on install):
    1. Main->Enable ProBalance
    2. Main->Gaming/multimedia mode enabled
    3. Options->General Settings->Recheck processes every...->250 ms

    GBoost will open on boot if you find the setting and set it to. It won't start, but you can just press the button and hit the close square. When you start it, it will close browsers (including mail) if they are open, and it closes ObjectDock on my PC. I just reopen ObjectDock and the mail browser, but I never have an internet browser open during boot, so that one is nothing to fear. After that it doesn't affect any programs...except that they answer to you faster.

    ProcessLasso will have the same affect. It's a straight to the core optimizer. Visit their site and read on the forums before you say no to it.

    There are no problems for anyone using the program and very few questions about features. The comments for the program are on the spot. Amazing software...the first real one of it's type that adds to Microsoft's optimization routines in Windows (the largest contributor to PC problems I believe). ProcessLasso is the one that will be on corporate machines around the world soon.

    I'm in a geek alert mode. I finally have a machine I know is running like it should, and I've never felt lonelier in my life. These seriously changed the way I think about using PCs...

    Temps are the thing to watch with PC health in mind. My core (processor) temps using these two programs have remained the same as usual...graphics has gone up from 58-60 C to 60-65 C, but the manufacturer rates the card for 95 C, so these definitely aren't threatening numbers.

    Try them and see.

    Bored and thought I would offer a suggestion here, while you are muddling though your issue. Really works for me...
