Last I looked out it was -28 C. out there. That would have been about an hour ago so I am sure it's much colder now.

For those of you who have never seen a Polar Bear Swim before, a friend of mine was just at one and snapped this picture of it. Please bare in mind that the image your about to see is true life and graphic. The people in this photo can not be held accountable as their actions explain their mental state.

Yes, it is very cold out there and they just have no sense of logic. I myself say, when it's cold you bundle up. Me thinks they have it backwards.

LOL. I don't know if they still do it, but the Chicago Polar Bear Club used to have a "swim" every January 1st. Some years they had to break up the ice to do it.

    Insanity at its finest. :D

Gosh...at least we're consistent. At one point today, it warmed up to 11F, now it's down to 8F. Windchills are consistent, as well. All the way to -5F earlier, now down to -7F.

I'm driving 150 miles north to work tomorrow. :(

Done deal but you get all snow storms, ice storms and wind storms. BTW, we sometimes get the minus fifty too.

@G.T. That pic was taken in B.C. Here we wait till February, break a hole in the ice, lower a cage in it so no one gets drug under the ice and then the crazy fools jump in. I've seen it as low as minus forty-six and they still do it.

Just poked my head out to look at the thermometer and it's minus forty two Celsius. Yep, getting seasonal now. Only have another 50 days of this kind of weather and then if we are lucky, it should start warming up.

Star, time to switch. I'll put a call into mother nature and see if she can change our weather around now. Either that or I'm going to have to consider moving. Australia is rather warm but not sure if I could handle the heat. Someone want to point me to a location where the weather stays in the 70's year around. I can handle those temps, not problem.

Phantom coffee in about thirteen hours from now? Same place, same time. BTW, tell that chick to let you get your work done.

This is supposed to be winter! Where is the snow? And why do we have temperatures between 5 and 12 degrees C? It should be between MINUS 5 and 12.......

That sucks big time, I dont mind the rain ( well living in the UK you have to get used to it ) when I drive somewhere but having to walk in it makes you feel lousy.... hope weather dry tomorrow I have interview and a suit and big warm coat dont really mix :(

Yeah I would have thought Winter + Sweden = SNOW?

After posting my weather today... we've had the lot, Sun first thing followed by the snow and cold wind, then heavy hail stones now its to coin a phrase "pissing down" with thunder.... ok which is to blame Global Dimming or Global Warming!!

That's okay, Tasmania is cool, without being arctic. I've often considered moving out there myself. Queensland is semi-tropical and nice and warm. Maybe too many 'bities' for you there, though.

Hey, it warmed up a little last night. Woke up to a foot of snow. We are suppose to drop again into the minus thirties .... of joy.

AFAIK, there's a lot less deadly things than the mainland. Some snakes, but not as much as the mainland. The (cold) weather and rugged mountains are more likey to kill you more than anything.

    ( Yeah, I have a good home for ya!... ;) )

Here, in Delaware, it is barely 30 F and it is getting colder. By saturday they are calling for a nor'ester which will bring much snow and plenty of play time for me and the missus, oh and lots of time to crawl on the floor with baby Emma. Man those are good times....

Phantom if the place has snakes, then I want a pet mongoose. Better make that four, come to think of it. Snakes scare the life out of me.

Well like the name - Shiver Me Timbers. Dang it's cold out there. I didn't stop to see what the thermometer said as I had tears in my eyes and was shaking too hard. I can tell you it's dang cold. Not fit for man nor beast.

@ Halo Congrats on the job. Hopefully the weather will be nice for your first day.

@Phantom Had a thought, if the weather is perfect, I could probably accept the snakes if I lived on a mongoose farm. (coffee nine-ish your time. Puts us about 3 hours ahead of norm but I also have to head to bed a little earlier tonight) ;)

Wellllll....last week we were in the mid 70's and had been for a couple of weeks. Then all of a sudden....BAM!! we were hit with this way too cold weather. Monday it was 11 degrees (f) when I got up.....I was like, WTF?!?! It isn't supposed to be this cold at the beach! So, just now I was checking the forecast and they are saying possible flurries tonight.....and a wintry mix Sat. and Sun. I've gotta tell ya, though, we've had our occasional snows and a huge one on Christmas back in '89 (18 inches!!!!!!) and I think there's nothing more beautiful and breathtaking than to see snow covered dunes on the ocean front.......BUT......I'll take warm sunny days over the cold snowy ones any day of the week. That's part of the reason I live where I do! If the weather guy is right, hahaha, and we get that forcast snow this weekend, I'll get pics and post for you all to see......it really is a beautiful sight to see!

BTW, right now, it's sunny and 35.......

:) I think I really went on and on about a simple weather question, didn't I? LOL :)

Hey, congrats on the new job, H. I thought you would get it, being a bright lad and all! ;)

We ahave been experiencing wildfires in the bushlands up beyond the hills all week. Will take an estimated three or four days to get under control.

(Told ya, Glo. Fires are about the only real danger here, unless you're waay out in the bush.) :p I would rather have a few snakes in the bush where they belong than a Mongoose around. They is vicious little critters!

    Catch ya tomorrow. ;)

I went out inside and I can honestly say, it's still pretty dang cold. No stopping to check the temp for this chick. Best description I can give is brrr.

Phantom, I hope you remember I can tolerate the heat just as much as the cold. Hope the location you have in mind will be seasonal to my tolerance.

Now about the mongoose. They don't kill ya and a snake could kill me without biting me. I'd say the chance of having a heart attack from a close up view of a poisonous snake would very high. (see you in about 3 hours) ;)

Nine inches of rain over the last 48 hours. Rained continuously for the 2 days. Still it is our wet season and we must expect it. Low pressure spot north of us was the cause of all the rain. Was expected to turn into a cyclone but fizzled out overnight. As I write this, 9am Saturday morning, weather is clearing.

Found a leak in my windsceen and boot. Passengers side floor flooded. Boot wet. Will have to fix both. Bazza

Winter Storm Warning from midnight tonight to 6 PM Saturday... Snow will develop this evening and become heavy at times overnight before winding down early Saturday afternoon. The heaviest snow will fall between 3 am and 6 am. Snowfall accumulations in the 4 to 8 inch range are expected with local amounts up to 10 inches south of Holland to Kalamazoo line. North winds 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts are expected Saturday afternoon. Drifting snow and reduced visibilities will create travel problems.

A Winter Storm Warning means severe winter weather conditions are imminent or highly likely. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case you become stranded.

    Tonight
Snow developing by midnight... becoming heavy at times late. Snow accumulation 6 to 10 inches. Lows 10 to 15. Southeast winds 15 to 25 mph becoming east 10 to 20 mph after midnight. Chance of snow 100 percent.

    Saturday
Windy with occasional snow and blowing snow. Additional snow accumulation 1 to 2 inches for a storm total accumulation of 7 to 12 inches. Highs around 20. Northeast winds 10 to 20 mph increasing to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 45 mph in the afternoon. Chance of snow 90 percent.

We've already got about eight inches on the ground. :(
