LOL. Not like here. I've seen 8 twisters in one week close enough to be on local weather radar. One a mile & a half or so from my house.

So move already. Between Memphis, Nashville, and Tunica (gambling & shows; mini Las Vegas) there should be work around here. More C&W, less rock though. But snow or ice down here is an Event, with a capital E.

True. We only get 1-3 a season. Although the last few have been pretty close to my house...heard the freight train one day, and it hit the apartment complex that's in my back yard. :D
I have a few options, but the problem is losing my seniority. The way it works, you start at the bottom again when you move somewhere new, until you jump through all the hoops again, which takes a couple of years.

And to bring this a little bit back on topic...holy crap! I just looked outside, and although it only actually started snowing about 35 minutes ago, already you can't see the footprints in my front yard from the meter reader this afternoon.

11:30 pm 8 inches of snow so far, Weather advisory till 4pm tomorrow, Locally talking near 16" near Lake Michican.
    TG for 4wheel drive!

    Dam! I sold my snowmobiles.

I remember when I was a Kid we used to Hoogie, that's where we would hang on to the bumber of a car & slide around the neighborhood, I still have a scar on my Knee, I also rememder picking asphalt out of my knee, dry spot on the pavement! that was over 20 years ago. "Aha, Young & Dumb"

When I was young we called it skitching. LOL.

When I got old enough to drive, I'd kick the rear end far sideways to shake 'em off. If they though I was crazier than they were, they'd bail out. Not that I minded towing kids around, but it's dangerous.

It's here...I live at about the "D" in Grand Rapids.
Winter Storm Warning in effect... snow has begun to overspread the area from west to east. As the snow picks up expect hourly snowfall amounts to reach close to one inch per hour through the early morning hours. Travel will become dangerous overnight so if it can be delayed please do so. Roads will rapidly accumulate snow and blowing and drifting will also occur.

Going sledding this morning with the kids. Got at least 8 inches last night. More coming, Winter storm advisory will probably cancel the Crossing gig I have tonight. :( Oh well, sledding is gonna be fun. We'll post pics.

It's been pretty here :) We felt the effects of a cold front pretty much this whole week but since yesterday, it's been warm again. Only the mornings are really chilly. And actually, maybe not even the mornings. I went outside late last night and it wasn't too cold - it felt really good! :)

30cm of snow at least has fallen and it doesn't appear to be subsiding. Windchill -30.
The dog is full-of-beans and totally excited by all the snow. The cats are snugged-down in a fleece blanket and do not seem to share in the dog's enthusiasm for playing a game of arctic-sled-dog-racing thru snowsqualls and winds gusting to 100km, in the living room.

I think it's time for another walk. ;)

Well when I got home this evening, it was already minus thirty two C. Good news, too cold to snow. Bad news .... Too cold for this chick. ;)

The river has ice dams in a couple of spots, causing severe flooding (some a record high flood stage). Hopefully it'll break up in a few days, but the temps have been WAY too low for it to do so, and we keep getting more snow, which adds to the problem. Looks like something out of a sci-fi movie downtown.

I can't believe it. It warmed up just enough to snow, small snow flakes. I sure hope we don't get much of this stuff.

Anyone want to send this gal to some beautiful, tropical island? Something nice with warm temperatures and lots of beach. Oh man, I can almost feel the rays and smell the ocean.

Well, I am off for a nap. Considering the weather ... good place for me to be right now is bed.

Phantom .... see you tonight, same time, same coffee house.

fog the last few days, and it started to rain yesterday.........o just looked outside, and it's raining again..........wobbles.....if the sun would just peek out, might get a little warmer....

  33. BluesMan

    BluesMan Sgt. Snot Bubble

But it was 60 yesterday ;)

I hear ya brother, I am damn tired of the fog and the rain. The heat will be here soon enough though.

  34. Sgt. Tibbs

    Sgt. Tibbs Ultra Geek

Currently, 23F, windchill 7F. And getting colder...the clouds are supposed to clear out (I can already see bright sunlight in patches), so there'll be nothing to keep what little heat there is from going away.

The low temp for tonight had a downward arrow on the news instead of a number. :(

  35. Shiver Me Timbers

Another night in the minus thirties. I've decided to put my self on a vacation in a tropic setting. Tonight I intend to turn my heat up to 78, run me a cool bath, find some funky tropic music and sip a glass of spirits in the tub. I figure I might be able to con myself into believing I am somewhere warm.

( These long cold winters are really starting to get to me)
