Hey Lev....

I was reading the back of one of the soy sauce packages (they have interesting facts printed on each packet) that came with the chinese carry out, and one said that it is illegal to pump your own gas in Oregon and New Jersey!!

So being that you are from Oregon...I figured I would go straight to the source. It just seems kind of odd....I've never heard of such!!!! So it that so??

Well, I work in Jersey, and can tell you that yes, it's illegal to pump your own gas. Not sure why. To be honest, I'd rather just pump my own. They always treat your car like they're mad at it. They fling open and shut the gas door, and drip gas all over the side of your car.

When I used to have my '63 Galaxie, I'd NEVER let those guys pump my gas. They'd get all freaked out when I'd get out and begin pumping it myself. If they had a problem with it I'd just go somewhere else.

Jersey is a pretty f'd up state anyway. The gas pump thing is nothing!

Personally...I prefer to pump my own because they never give a hoot about your car, either banging the pump handle around, or when they get done, they drip gas all down the side of your car!!

I think they have that law because it's supposedly safer and creates jobs.

I'd rather do it myself, just so I can add an extra 2 cents ( it gets rounded down or up to the nearest 5 cents )

 

You'd be battling to find a servo in Australia that provides someone to pump your gas.

As long as they don't introduce paying first before filling up. That is very annoying.
