Hi I really need your help please.

    My computer is being really slow today for some reason I don't know.Please can someone help me out here I would really appreciate it as I am computer ignorant and don't know nothing to do with this box infront of me please help I will really appreciate it thanks so much!:eek: :confused: :eek:

    sorry I forgot to mention I run Avg nightly and update on that daily as well as Ad Aware Se, and Spybot search and destroy I run these every night and update nightly as well.:eek: :confused:

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

    all the other scans come up with absolutely no viruses.and here is the scan result from Bitedefender can someone please take a look at it thanks so much!:confused:

    Your HJT log looks good, I would like you to run CCleaner to clean up cookies and temp files.

    What problems are you having?

    i did the cc cleaner and it cleaned like you said I run that cleaner nightly every day, I just don't understand why my system seemed to be so slow yesterday?
    also when i did the panda scan it say 2 spywares what should i do from there and i would like to thank you for all the help you are giving me:)

    The Panda detections were nothing more than cookies that CCleaner will remove.

    The other's you can remove by deleting the contents of the folder below:

    C:\Program Files\Spy Cleaner Platinum\Backup

    Also, let me point out that you need to update your OS as it appears out dated. Surf in to Windows Updates and get updated and see how things run from there.

    Ok you are going to find me a total idiot but how would I go about deleting
    C:/Program Files/Spycleaner Plantinum/Backup
    Do I go into window explorer to do this?:confused: :eek: :eek:

    Just go into My Computer, C:\, Program Files, Spycleaner Plantinum, Backup and delete anything in this folder.

    OS stands for "Operating System", in this case yours is Windows 98 SE. By updating your OS I mean go to Windows Updates and install all available updates.

    I thought you meant "backup" as in backing up your computer, sorry for the miscommunication.

    Yes, I wanted to remove anything in this folder as they are only backups. They are not needed anymore.

    Okay! Download and Install all available updates. NEVER install any hardware related updates from Microsoft such as drivers.

    Anything critical you need to download and install. You will have to reboot between some of the installs but make sure you get them all so you will be secured.

    All you needed to delete was the files in the BACKUP folder, nothing else.

    If you deleted the contents of the BACKUP folder, you didn't but if you deleted the folder "Spycleaner Plantinum" then you will have to reinstall this program.

    I sit here clueless not knowing what to do but I do know that I can turn to you for help!
    So anyways here goes my computer started the CounterSpy scan at 2am this morning and it says it has detected 1 spyware problem the name of this spyware is PowerReg Scheduler view all detected locations C:\windows\start menu\programs\start up\powerreg scheduler.exe the level that this is at is Elevated 3 out of 5
    Please can someone tell me what to do thank you!

    Your HJT log showed no signs of PowerReg Scheduler trying to load like a log normally would. So either it is being blocked from loading or it has been fixed already by CounterSpy. If not, just delete the file (C:\windows\start menu\programs\start up\powerreg scheduler.exe)

    Yes! If you run windows explorer and navigate to the path CounterSpy gave you, you should be able to see the file and delete it.
