I was wondering if someone could tell me if I can send a text message to someones cell phone without knowing their provider. I have the number.. I would like to send a message and maybe have some kind of confirmation number or something letting me know it was sent... thanks

You can add a mobile device to the contact list in AOL Instant Messenger, that pretty much works regardless of Service Provider, so long as your contact has text messaging enabled.

I dunno, that sounds like cell phone spamming to me.

Don't you just tap in the cell phone number, send your text and then when it is delivered you get the auto "Sent OK" screen on your cell phone? That's all I do with mine.

I would also make sure they want to recieve these text messages, doesn't it cost a lot of money to send and recieve these things?!?!?!

    It can do.

I know on my old nokia there was an option of network messages. You would send a text, and when it was delivered to the other phone a message was sent to you saying it had reached its destination.

I've not got that on my current phone, but to be honest I'm not that bothered.

Oh and the sent OK thing just means it reached your network's SMS server and it verified the number ... not that it got to the other side okay
