Hi all, its been a while. I havent forgotten about my friends here at MG.

Been kinda busy, used to work 3 jobs, now its down to 2. Work overnight from 12-3:30 usually sunday night through thursday night, and work retail *shudders* saturday through tuesday.

How have you all been?

Im tryin to get a county job or something like that. These retail jobs are terrible. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone.

just to answer your age-long question of "where the heck was strogg?????":
busy, in a way. i just started college, and it started to get slightly challenging, so i decided to devote more time into studying than into posting stuff here. then it didn't help that i got "dragged" into another online messageboard by a buddy of mine. had some great times there, but i'm through. the environment of this place is just oh-so much better. i'll probably stick around here for a while, posting here and there. don't be surprised if i just stand up and disappear again, though. i'll try not to do that

 

Doing much better, thank you very much. We had the worst 6 weeks of my life starting in the middle of January. Here's the quick version - On top of all of us being generally under the weather, Kolya had a couple of unexplained seizures the day before her birthday. After a CAT scan, a spinal tap and an EEG, they were later chalked up to complications from the flu, but it sure shook us up. The day after her neurology appointment and after getting a few days of antibiotics in myself for strep, I flew out to Philly to be with my Dad in his final days battling cancer. Dad died at home a week and a half after I got there with my Mom and my brothers and I around him holding his hands. Eric and the kids came out the day after Dad passed away, and we immediately realized that something was wrong with Drexel (he had gotten strep as well, and was on antibiotics while I was gone). We took him to A. I. Dupont Children's hospital in Delaware and they admitted him for 4 days. He had HSP http://www.aafp.org/afp/980800ap/980800b.html on top of having an abcess on a lymph node, and had to have his adenoids removed as well. Eric and I took turns spending the night at the hospital, but Eric and Drexel missed both the viewing and funeral. I just kept thinking things couldn't get any worse, and they just kept getting worse! I think we're out of the woods now though. After we got home, I had a couple of moles removed from my back, and I kept thinking, it would just figure if these things are malignant, but I just got the all clear! Very encouraging.

Glad to hear that you're going to be around more again. You've been missed!

 

!!! wow. sorry to hear all about that. wow. i'm happy you all pulled through. see, these are the moments where family is important and definitely cherished. anyway, i'm happy to see you still here and dancing about like your normal self. it's been a while; i really missed you and everyone else here.

 

Hello Cindy! and the rest of the gang.

Im happy to report that as of 2 weeks ago.. I have lost another 10lbs!

Ive been working hard on losing the weight, so far the totals are ~45lbs and 8 pant sizes Ive dropped http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif Feels great!

Congratulations! Isn't it great having to go out & buy SMALLER clothes because the old ones don't fit? Sure beats going in the other direction!

Thanks GT. It's good to be back. Still been quite busy, but we were able to get out to Bushnell for a few days Sunday through Wednesday. It was really nice. The weather was beautiful. We burned down an old outhouse that we've been talking about burning down since we got the trailer. The weather was perfect for a good bonfire. Burned off some of the wood from one of the dead trees we had cut down last summer as well as cleared out a lot of the brush behind the trailer. I got a touch of poison ivy, but nothing like what I would have gotten had we done it later in the season. Watched movies at night and I made some more cards as well. My Mom wants me to send her a box of them so she can try to sell them for me out east. I've been giving them to my folks for years, and they would never use them. Dad has them framed all over the house. (Dad was really proud of my artistic talent )

Sounds like a lot of work down at Bushnell, although it sounds like satisfying work. Glad you had some time to unwind a bit. You've more than earned a break!

 

Thankfully, the place hadn't been used for at least 10 years, and probably a lot longer. There wasn't even a hole left underneath, there was an old tub that was completely full with dirt. We could see traces of lime. Still, between burning down an outhouse, and poison ivy vines, we were careful not to breath in the smoke. Yuck!

 

LOL. I have very old memories of working outhouses. Smelled bad enough when NOT burning.

 

So what's your other half up to tonight?

 

He's got Crossing practice. They've got shows every weekend for the next few weeks. Last Saturday they performed Epitaph for the first time. The show was fairly close by, so I was able to go. They've got another show close by this Saturday (in Evanston) but I don't know if I'll go to that one. They are playing one of Tony's new songs as well. It's exciting to have them performing new material. Gives Eric a chance to make the music his own, rather than just playing Mike's old parts.

 

That IS good. Eric will feel more a real part of things playing new music. Particularly his own music. I'm interested in how Epitaph ended up, since I kind of nudged him toward that one. If you get any kind of recording of it, even a low-quality live recording, I'd love to hear it. Say hi to him for me.

 

I do feel great! Ive been drinking lots of water, cut out the soda almost completely (down to maybe 1 glass a week when it used to be 4-5 a day) exercising and such. Keeping busy basically.

you're lucky. cuz when i lose weight, it's not the belly the fat disappears from. it's everywhere else in my body. although i may be skinny all over my body, my tummy fat is always still there. it's really weird.

i gotta listen to some of this stuff; my music collection is starting to get old (haven't bought many cd's lately)
