Why does the junk program files removal tool not remove some things. they are checked (by default) but I can run it once and then run again and these items always remain.

 

Chance are that the files are open with another program which prevents them from being deleted.

 

Is CCleaner safe to use for cleaning junk. I used it for many years but then things went sour with it when it was sold so I quit using it. Or could you recommend another program? I doubt the validity of what you said above because I restarted, then tried to run HiBit again and got the same results.

Important!
After downloading CCleaner disconnect from the internet prior to installing the program.
Then run CCleaner > Options > Settings and uncheck Inform me of updates to CCleaner.
Then open Task scheduler and disable CCleaner Update.

 

I thank you so much for this info and instructions. But would you mind if I asked why? And then what do you do for updates; just wait a period of time and then go through all this again?

 

If you don't mind CCleaner's Data Collection 'feature' you can run the latest version.
There's no reason to update CCleaner 5.4.
