Don't know if I worded this correctly, but it should be an easy fix since it's common. I have personal web space with my ISP and if you go to my site, like for example, domain.com/main/dir/index.html the page loads (which is good obviously). But how do I make it so that if someone puts in domain.com/main that they can't see all the contents on my server space?

Like for MG images http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/misc/vbulletin3_logo_white.gif. You can see that image at that address, but putting in http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images or http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/misc does not display the directories and all the files therein. I don't have any personal info on here, but I'd still prefer that people couldn't see everything on there. Does this make sense? Thanks! :)

Ok, can someone suggest a good website with a forum that would be better able to answer this question, then?

A little more information would make it easier to help, but I would guess that permissions would have to be set through your ISP's interface. Is there a web interface that you use to manage your site, or do you have access to the HTTP server software itself (IIS, Apache, etc).

I am not in front of a server console right now, but in IIS i beleive that you can right click on folders through the management console and go to properties to manage permissions on a folder-by-folder basis. This would make the user be prompted for a pw when they try to look at folder that you have blocked.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response. I had no idea what Apache or IIS. This is a tiny 20mb my ISP gives and the only way I know how to connect to it is using FTP (I use FileZilla) and I upload my webpages to it.

I don't know what additional information to provide. I can login to this site http://my.att.net/p but it doesn't seem to have anything other than FAQ (which I've checked). I don't think there's a way to manage anything with the server space there, but I could be wrong.
