is there any use to this claim?
can a program actually hide your IP?

 

There are plenty of free and paid ways of blocking your IP address.
You need to research it.

When using a firewall your IP won't help would-be intruders unless you do something that effectively invites them in. Save your money. Oh, and btw, if this forum can't see your IP you won't get in!

 

I dont see a way to get a proxy Ip?

 

If you want to hide your IP for 'safety' then take note of what Earthling says - you don't need it.
If you want it for the other reasons quoted in those links, you will just need to read them and research further. But using a proxy IP will block you from all kinds of websites that you may want to use.

Has nothing to do with this forum, I figure everyone here can see through any thing, as they have the technology. They have the capability to do anything a computer can do.
Unlike MY IT department at work where there big solution is
"turn it off and on and see if it stops doing that"

 

If you try to access this site within a browser using a proxy - ie fake - IP you wont be able to log in. The same will go for many many other sites including banking etc.
You will need to use a proxy IP only for when accessing sites you want to hide your true identity from.
You can use the Tor Browser for that.
