    Dear All,

I was searching for a spot welder and came across a website that was not related at all. The webpage informed me that my computer was infected and scanned for infections. I was almost tempted to click on the countes but stopped. I closed the webpage instead and ran all the diagnostics.

    1. Completed the instructions as recommended
    2. Spybot detected two "windows microsoft ..." problems. These were eliminated and never appeared again with the second scan. This did not appear even during safe boot
    3. I did not download the AVG antivirus because I have the McAfee. This did not detect any viruses. However, this program does not create any files for viewing. The quarantine section is negative
    4. Panda and Bitdefender came out negative
    5. AVG antispyware detected some cookie problems but all were eliminated

Kindly look through my HJK log and confirm whether I have problem. I just want to be sure. Also did I do the correct thing when a dubious page appears. Thanks a bunch and sorry that I got in trouble again.

    Sincerely,
    Mongooseba

It was more than likely an ad of some sort, your logs are clean and show nothing malicious at all. I would however recommend you run the below utility just to clean the junk files.

    :)Dear Bjgarrick,

Thanks for all your help with my issue and for recommending ATF cleaner. A side question: can you run multiple "cleaning" programs e.g. CCleaner, ATFCleaner? Looking forward to your reply.

    Sincerely,
    Mongooseba

Yes! I personally run ATF-Cleaner, CCleaner and MRU-Blaster. One by one of course, I don't run them at the same time.

    Dear BJGarrick,

Tried the MRU-Blaster and liked it. I am beginning to wonder what information do we have on our computers these days that could be used by some hackers. Thanks again.

    Sincerely,

This is a good little program, it removes things others do not which is why I like it.

Anything from bank account numbers to passwords or even serial numbers to certain programs you may have installed. If you have a firewall, antivirus and antispy programs installed and you surf wisely, you should never have malware problems.

The best way to keep your self protected is to be responsible and surf wisely.
